Robyn Murphy

Robyn Murphy

Robyn’s passion for costume stems from her love of Film, Animation and Video Games. Prior to completing NIDA’s Bachelor of Dramatic Arts- Costume in 2013, Robyn completed a Diploma of Animation and a Certificate III in Scenery and Set Construction in Brisbane. Whilst doing animation, Robyn began engaging in the pop-culture hobby known as Cosplay. Through this hobby, Robyn trained herself in the skills of sewing, pattern construction as well as delving into prop armour and finishing techniques. As she became more involved in this hobby, Robyn found herself wanting to take it further into a career.

Robyn’s knowledge and experience in prior educations enables her to engage easily with new technologies such as laser cutting and digital mediums.  She has honed skills into works that include tailored leather-work, thermoplastic manipulation, latex garment construction and electronics.

Since leaving NIDA Robyn has worked on large theatre productions such as ‘Les Miserables’ and ‘The King and I’ at Anthony Phillips Costume Lty Pty. As well as working in the Film/TV industry on the 2-part TV movie ‘The House of Hancock’ which she made garments for the lead female role.
